In Loving Memory of Connie Jo Unrein (Hales)

October 8, 1962 – May 6, 2026

Connie Jo Unrein (Hales), beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully at her home in West Valley City, Utah, on May 6, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was 63 years old.

Born in Utah on October 8, 1962, Connie lived a life centered around love, family, hard work, and caring for others. She had a heart that knew no limits and spent her life making sure everyone around her felt deeply loved.

Connie dedicated 20 years of hard work and loyal service to Ernst Inc., where she was respected as an exceptional employee and manager known for her dedication, strength, and unwavering work ethic. Later, she worked side by side with her husband, Eric, at General Scale, becoming not only his trusted partner in business, but his right-hand woman both in the office and out on job sites.

Connie married Steve J. Evans in 1983, and together they welcomed two beautiful daughters, Amber Evans and Talia Wilson (Evans). Later in life, Connie found lasting love when she married Eric Unrein on January 19, 2000. Together, they blended their families and became true partners in life, best friends, and soulmates, building a life filled with love and countless cherished moments together.

Connie shared a passion for family, adventure, and enjoying life to the fullest. With her husband, they loved going on cruises, spending time on their boat, and enjoying endless days on the water with family and friends. Connie especially loved riding jet skis and bringing her family along for every journey. Some of the happiest moments of her life were spent surrounded by the people she loved most, moments that will be cherished forever.

Above all else, Connie had a heart devoted to caring for others. Her home was a place of comfort, especially during holidays, barbecues, birthdays, and family gatherings. Connie found her greatest joy in bringing everyone together and making sure those around her felt loved, welcomed, and cared for.

One thing everyone will always remember about Connie was her radiant smile and unforgettable laugh. Her infectious laughter could echo through an entire home, instantly bringing joy to everyone around her. Connie left a lasting imprint on all of our hearts, one that will remain with us always.

She is survived by her sister, Dawn Wright; her children, Amber Evans (Bryan), Talia Wilson (Kellen), Tiffani Unrein Duffy (Bryan), and Rick Unrein (Kathrine); and her treasured grandchildren: Aisling, Madison, Bentley, London, Dane, Davyd, Rylee, Kaleb, Maverick, Isla, and Norah; and her great-grandchild: Dahlia. She is also survived by two nieces, four nephews, and countless extended family members and friends who loved her.

Connie was preceded in death by her parents, Lois Marlene Hales and Wayne Arthur Hales; sister, Pamela Black; brother, Ted Clark; her beloved husband, Eric Unrein; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins whom she cherished dearly.

Connie’s greatest pride were her three daughters, who love her beyond words. The bond they shared was one built on unconditional love and they will carry her memory with them always.

Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing Connie’s love and legacy will live on through her children, grandchildren, family, and all the lives she touched. We promise to honor her by loving deeply, gathering often, caring for one another, and keeping her laughter alive in our homes and hearts forever.
